The QingCloud Library, located in Heshan, Guangdong, China, was conceptualized and brought to life between May and November 2019. The project spans 220 square meters, offering a unique blend of modern display cabinets, casual coffee services, and a vast selection of books. The library's design was inspired by the client's desire for a visually impactful entrance, which was achieved through a cylindrical architecture and suggestive light effects.
Leibao Chen and the practice team at Fineland Architecture and Studio Revo were the creative minds behind this project. The team faced the challenge of meeting the client's requirements for a visually stunning entrance and a refined internal layout. They overcame these challenges by designing a central structure in a flowing, cylinder-shaped form and arranging built-up shelves on either side of this central spot. This design strategy effectively separated tourists and prevented crowding, while also creating a visually appealing and functional space.
The QingCloud Library's unique properties lie in its creative use of space and light. The library's central structure at the entrance enhances the customer experience upon entering the space. The use of wood veneer, processed glass, color coating, and stainless steel in the construction of the library adds to its modern and sophisticated aesthetic. The library also offers an independent reading environment, with numerous shelves and tables scattered on either side of the central element.
The library's design was recognized with a Golden A' Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. The award celebrates products and ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
